This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
On to year four of teaching! I have learned so much over the past three years, and I cannot wait for another successful school year. This year, I will be teaching 10th and 11th English Language Arts with scholars that are eager to learn. I want to try and make my class as engaging and energetic as I can to make sure my scholars thrive.
Despite how excited my students may be about their education, many of them come to school with little to none of the necessary school supplies needed to be successful.
I work in a Title I school where my students qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program. Even though my students may deal with terrifying real-life circumstances, they still come to school ready to work and ready to be challenged to the next level. My scholars never cease to amaze me with their wit, charm, and amazing ideas!
My Project
All too often my kids tell me they are having a hard time focusing because they are hungry. Can you imagine sitting in a classroom, expected to perform to your best when your stomach is empty?
My scholars are in need of some snacks.
We need healthy snacks to help ease the teenage hunger pains during the day and to help students be more engaged when they are feeling hungry. We are asking for Cheez-Its, Quaker Chewy Granola bars, and Welch's Fruit Snacks.
Healthy snacks are great, but sometimes students need something sweet too! My students need that little bit of incentive. Just a little bit of candy or other treats that can be passed out once in a while really boosts moral. Sometimes students get raffle tickets if they are working hard and keeping focus. I am also going to be creating behavior incentive charts. The treats can be used as a reward for good behavior and keeping on task as a class. We are asking for snacks such as: Grandma's Cookies, Doritos, Sour Patch Kids, and Sour Punch Twists.
Additionally, we are in need of some of the basic school supplies to help us through the year. We need an X-Acto Pencil Sharpener, pens, AmazonBasics stapler, and a Scotch tape dispenser. My students also need a BEBONCOOL RF 2.4GHz Wireless Presenter Remote Presentation clicker to help me navigate the classroom while doing a PowerPoint presentation.
We also would like to have Amazon Solimo facial tissue paper to help us stay clean and healthy!
