Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a low socioeconomic status and about 98 percent of our bilingual 4th-grade students take the school bus to school. They all qualify for 100 percent free lunch and breakfast. My scholars are very eager to learn new things every day. They are very energetic and like to socialize and share their bright ideas.
Our school, B.
Elementary, is a Title I school where most of the school's students receive free or reduced-priced lunch and 90 percent of them commute to school on the bus.
My Project
Our English Language Learners come from low socio-economic status. They come to school hungry at times and they cannot afford to bring a healthy snack to eat during class before lunch. Many of them cannot afford to eat breakfast at their home because they do not have the money. I would like to have healthy snacks like granola bars and pretzels to eat while they work. The snacks will help the scholars to energize during class time before they go to their late lunch which is at 12:35. I believe these young 4th graders need to have a healthy snack because many of them get hungry during class time.
