My students are fabulous children; they are ready to learn! We are a small town, Title I School where all of our students get free meals and some of my students do not have a good home life. Coming to school and getting a warm breakfast and lunch is something they look forward to.
Seeing their eyes light up, a smile on their face, and them excited to get started for the day, is my motivation to make math class interesting day-in and day-out.
I enjoy teaching these students.
I find it challenging to motivate the students that are not interested in school. The challenge is to figure out why they are not interested. Many of them bring a lot of "baggage" with them to school. There are many sad stories. That is why it is important to make their time at school count; to educate them and teach them how to learn, so they have the ability to change their life as they get older. Thanks for your interest.
My Project
Many of my students come to school hungry or get hungry throughout the day or during after-school tutoring or activities. It is helpful to have healthy snacks on-hand for those times.
A student that is hungry has a difficult time concentrating on his/her school work.
This is one way that we can help them be successful in school.
We also have several children in our school that are homeless and sending home a snack pack for a long weekend is very much appreciated. They look forward to receiving these treats to help them through the day or through a long weekend.
Thanks in advance for considering helping our children! They are worth it!
