My students are natural born learners. I truly believe that all children want to learn and want to know more. They are naturally curious from the moment they enter the world, and it is my job to make them want to know more.
This year I have a very diverse class.
I have children who have ADHD, autism, ODD, gifted and students who live in poverty. I also have Hispanic, Russian, Vietnamese, and a child from Guam. This is a regular education class, and I treat them all as individuals. This group of children is the hardest working group of children I have ever taught. In fact, these students are amazing. They have such potential and are truly hard workers.
My school is a Title I school, but this school is astonishing. The students are loved and challenged. The teachers are motivated and want what is best for all the students.
My Project
My students come from very different economic backgrounds. Some of my students do not get breakfast and do not bring snacks to school. I have a designated snack time everyday but the students that are needy usually don't bring a snack.
Students can't focus when they are hungry!
They are only thinking about their stomachs and asking what time is lunch. Also, when students bring a snack, many times it is very unhealthy. They bring chips, candy, and inappropriate snacks. I would love to provide a healthy snack for my students so that I know they are not hungry when they are in my care.
