Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, with 64% of the students being Hispanic, with non-English speaking families. Many of the students are bilingual, especially if they have been enrolled in school in the US since PreK. We do have students that are new the country and have no English. I work in a Title I school, where we offer 100% free breakfast and lunch daily for our students. Many of the students receive food backpacks on Friday so they have food for the weekend.
The students love coming to school and are eager to learn.
The students are well behaved and thrive in our classroom community. They are supportive of each other in the classroom and on the playground. The parents are supportive and want to learn new ways to be engaged and involved with their child's education.
My Project
At our school, "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters"! This includes state testing. Our students have worked so hard all year and we want to insure all their needs are meet to make sure they are successful! One of our goals during state testing is keep our scholars motivated throughout the day by providing snacks to keep their brains energized.
A variety of healthy snacks will provide our students the nourishment they need to rock their tests!
It is important that students are able to focus when completing required testing and they cannot do this when their brains and bodies are not fed.
