My fourth grade students come from a wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my students come from low income housing and single parent households. Although my 36 students are all different and unique, one thing is the same: all of my students deserve to come into a safe, comfortable, and loving environment each time they step into my classroom.
My students are excited by learning new things in fourth grade and love learning in new ways.
Our school has around 800 students in grades K-4. Our school is a very tight-knit community in which all students and teachers care deeply for one another, and we take pride in the education we are able to give to our students each day.
My Project
This project will help me provide healthy snacks for my students twice a week for the remainder of the school year. Every day between breakfast and lunch we have a time where students can have a snack; however, many of our students come from limited-income households who cannot provide snack.
Health and wellness is so important and these snacks (crackers, granola bars, and fruit snacks) will give my students the energy they need throughout the school day.
As a teacher, I know that it can be difficult to work when you are hungry. That is why being able to provide healthy snacks for my students would mean so much. It would make a remarkable difference in our school and classroom to know that students have been given their best opportunity to learn and have healthy snacks along the way.
