My students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
The free and reduced-price lunch percentage at my school is above the 50th percentile. The poverty rate in our community is on the rise. These high poverty rates and free and reduced-price lunch rates do not interfere with the high morale my students have. They are eager to learn and are so excited about learning. I hear the words "I love school" or "I'm sad the day is over" quite often on a daily basis.
My Project
These healthy granola bars, popcorn, crackers, and pretzel snacks will make a difference in my students' learning because they will have had proper nutrition the night before school and in the mornings before school. Some of my students' parents and caretakers work late and long hours and are unable to provide healthful meals and snacks. Sending these healthy snacks home with my students will give a boost to proper nutrition instead of resorting to sugar and fatty foods.
These healthy granola bar, popcorn, and cracker snacks will provide nutrition to those students who are in need of healthful snacks and dinner after school hours.
My students will come to school alert and ready to learn with a proper balanced diet.
