Bozhoo! That is how you say hello in Ojibwe. I teach first grade students in a school that is located on a Native American reservation. Most of my students come from generational poverty, which can bring trauma. Every year, I do my best to create a classroom family where each child feels safe, successful, and loved.
From the moment we walk in the door in the morning until we go home we are on the move.
We are constantly learning, creating and working. My students love coming to school and are such eager learners!
Healthy snacks will increase focus on learning in the classroom throughout the day. The snacks, such as animal crackers and pretzels, can boost their energy level for learning. Healthy snacks enable the students to become more engaged in classroom activities. By providing my students with healthy snacks, you are investing in higher academic performance in the classroom.
No student should be distracted by hunger in the classroom or at night when they go home.
I would like to offer the children a snack to eat in the classroom or take home so that they can eat it when they are hungry. By having a snack to take home, it would help some children sleep better and wake up ready to learn. A little bit of food to fill their belly could go a long way in helping them be successful. Thank you!
