This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everyone wants a treat for doing something for the teacher. My students love healthy snacks and water.
I teach Physical Education in a high poverty inner city public school in Indiana.
Our school has almost 600 students, K-6, who love Physical Education! I see every student twice a week. We rarely go outside to play, and I want to teach the students how to exercise inside. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could then go home and teach their families what they've learned. By doing this, the entire family will be exercising together, and everyone would be in shape!
Help me help them with childhood obesity!
My Project
I have student helpers that work so hard at so many things. They are willing to do what ever I need during the day. I have several that will set up my gym for me each morning. Others are student leaders. I also have several that log in the Coke rewards points. It is nice to give them a healthy snack for a job well done. Having a healthy snack also keeps them focused on their school work. I would also like to reward my Physical Education classes with a treat for outstanding behavior and reaching fitness goals.
Donations to this project will help over 600 students in my school get on the right road to do their part to fight childhood obesity.
With your help we can get our students on the right track to start their own fitness program. Students will benefit from this program for many years to come. Teaching the students the importance of staying in shape is the key to their future. Thank you for considering our project!
