My students are a group of energetic first graders who come to school each day eager to learn. They attend a high poverty, Title I school in rural Georgia and over 85% of my children live in poverty. Our elementary school is a low income, rural school that has children that are homeless.
Regardless of our socioeconomic status, these students are young, ambitious, and smart.
Despite their hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn as much as they can so they can be successful. I teach an amazing group of first graders who come to school each day with smiles on their faces.
My Project
This project will help me provide healthy snacks for my students. Every day between breakfast and our late lunch we have a time where students can have a snack; however, many of our students come from limited-income households who cannot provide snack.
Health and wellness is so important and these snacks (crackers, granola bars, pretzels, and cookies) will give my students the energy they need throughout the school day.
As a teacher, I know that it can be difficult to work when you are hungry. That is why being able to provide healthy snacks for my students would mean so much. The Clorox wipes will be used each day to clean our tables and get rid of the germs. It would make a remarkable difference in our school and classroom to know that students have been given their best opportunity to learn and have healthy snacks along the way.
