This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year our students have New Year's Goals to work on their life skills! In recent months, our curious students have inquired about skills they will need as they progress in life and in the future.

Teaching life skills in our schools helps students build confidence in communication and collaborative skills, provides them with the right developmental resources in health and safety, encourages problem-solving solutions for everyday tasks, gives them a way to communicate and develop relationships, and teaches them accountability.

Our 5th grade students are so special and are motivated to better their health and lifestyle. Our goal of this project is to learn about life skills, such as using money and coins (by using fake money), writing and mailing letters, and telling time (with analog clocks)! Other skills also include developmentally appropriate practices that encompass health and safety, such as taking care of hygiene (using deodorant), brushing their teeth (appropriately with a toothbrush and tooth paste), and taking care of of their hair (by using mannequins and hair products such as hair ties). With these resources, we can properly practice all the skills that these students desire and set them up for success in the future!
