This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my class are eager learners who push past the odds every day to attend school. Most of my students are from single-parent families who struggle financially to help supply their children with basic school supplies. I use the limited school funds to purchase things such as folders, glue, and crayons that typically lasts for the first few weeks of school. After those supplies are used, I find myself using personal funds to ensure that learning remains the number one priority.
The lessons that I plan are essential to my students' growth, and I want them to have what they need to do well.
The ability to provide a quality instructional program is of the utmost importance to me, as my students deserve the same high quality instruction as their suburban counterparts. My classroom expectations are high, and my students worked endlessly to ensure they fulfill them daily. It is a joy to serve this student population. Their academic growth is phenomenal and I believe they will continue to do well through my encouragement.
My Project
All of these items will be used to keep my students healthy as they work and learn together. The winter months are cold and many of my students who have respiratory issues spend most of their time either sick or away from school. I spend quality time preparing quality instruction for all my students. When they are not present at school, we all lose.
The items included in this project will minimize the time spent out of school and maximize the learning outcomes for all of my children.
Using the tissues, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and wipes will ensure that their bodies are clean and ultimately create healthier minds. When they don't have to worry about clean hands, noses or mouths, then we are able to spend time learning.
It is my goal to help provide them with the necessary materials and supplies within the classroom setting to keep the focus on learning.
