Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 4th-grade students come from a Hispanic background. However, their individual backgrounds are diverse. Their families come from different places and have different but similar cultures. Their life experiences are incredibly unique, yet their eagerness to improve and learn is strong.
The neighborhood in which our school is located is surrounded by some serious issues that are enough to damage my students’ self-confidence and make them unhappy.
Most of them have many family issues, a troubled household, and lack of attention that cause loneliness. Nevertheless, my students strive every day to overcome those issues by learning and wishing for a better future.
My Project
During the school year, my students strive to be the best they can be. However, there are times that their bodies are not able to perform the best academically due to seasonal allergies and/or illness. Therefore, we try to maintain our classrooms free, as much as possible, of any microorganism that will hinder the students’ learning. When students are healthy they can learn better and give their best at school.
A clean classroom minimizes the spread of germs, prevents offending smells from lingering, and makes learning run more smoothly overall.
Using simple cleaning methods like disinfecting their desks and sanitizing their hands, help students dedicate their few hours of school time to learning and not to feeling sick.
However, there are times in which even when the classroom is clean, students get sick somewhere else. Then, blowing their noses becomes necessary. In addition, this will require to sanitize the classroom so that any illness does not spread among the other students.
