My Students

I teach health at a school located within a rural community. Throughout the school year, I am given the opportunity to touch the lives of over 280 students in the 7th and 8th grades. Successfully building relationships with each of my students is one of the best rewards of my career. It is also one of my greatest goals and motivations within the classroom.

My students are engaged, excited, and thrilled to learn about health, especially when I am able to present the content in a variety of meaningful ways!

To be able to provide content in a way that reaches each student is a wonderful feeling. With a variety of learning styles in each classroom, it is pertinent to continuously switch the way in which you teach. I am hoping to be able to successfully do this in a more meaningful manner, with every content standard that I teach within my classroom.

My Project

The students within my classroom are currently at an age where they will be confronted with situations pertaining to risky behaviors. My goal is to give them enough knowledge and information, so that they feel confident in their decision making skills.

With the Lung Comparison Kit, students will be able to actually see how smoking cigarettes will affect their lungs.

Being able to visualize and utilize something in a hands-on approach is much different than simply being overloaded with information from a teacher.

My goal is to motivate my students to want to take care of their bodies and to not engage in risky behaviors, such as smoking cigarettes.
