This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Were you raised on balanced meals? Did someone teach you about the foods that are good for your body? My students need help learning about healthy foods and good nutrition.
My students struggle with good nutrition.
They do not understand the correlation between a healthy diet and being successful in school. Our school started a garden two years ago. Trying to teach students that growing and eating their own food is not only healthy, but can also be fun.
My Project
Technology is the wave of the future. My goal is to give my students both technology and lessons on how to be and keep healthy throughout their lives. This goal can be reached using iPads. With iPads in my classroom, students will be able access apps that will teach them about food, nutrition, and growing healthy foods in our school garden as well as researching healthy foods and ways to grow them. Some of the apps will include Dr. Panda's Veggie Garden, Create a Meal, and Market Garden. I believe that this will not only impact my students now, but it will impact them for life.
I would like to ensure that my students are given every opportunity to learn and grow.
By using iPads in my classroom I will guarantee them that chance. I want them to begin to understand how we grow food and its importance to having a healthy body and a healthy life.
