Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our School has a diverse population who are achieving very well in academics and behavior. Our students have formed various clubs and organizations after school to get involved in their community and to strive to be the best they can in all academic areas.

The students are hard working, talented, well behaved and out going.

despite living in low income sections of the city, they achieve at high results and are committed for success. They give their best effort in all matters.

My Project

The dumbbell set will help students build their muscular strength using a variety of exercises and weights. By improving muscular strength, it will benefit their posture, help prevent muscle injuries, increase their lean body mass, and when done consistently, can decrease their risk of osteoporosis in the future. I will introduce and teach the students a wide variety of strength exercises that can be done with just a set of dumbbells that they can use outside of class and throughout their lives.

The benefits of physical activity are endless.

Teaching students how to lead an active, healthy lifestyle is essential for their future health and well being. Many students may plan to join a gym or fitness center after high school to help stay healthy or lose weight. I hope to give them the opportunity to learn a variety of exercises using the equipment they will find in a gym or fitness center, so that they are not intimidated to use this beneficial equipment in the future.
