Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into my classroom every day wanting to feel safe, protected, and ready to learn. They are extremely loving, bright kids with different learning disabilities. Each one of them brings a different color into our room which creates the beautiful rainbow of our daily lives. My students are all different and unique in their own special way.
Although my students are growing up in a community in severe poverty, their spirit and enthusiasm shine daily.
School is their safe zone, and each one of them look forward to coming to school every day.
My Project
Our class is asking for Physical education equipment and walkie talkies for student safety. All of our students want to play and remain active all year long. Our classes can only have a set of balls per class with not jump ropes or frisbees for those wanting to participate in a different way. This helps them with the not only exercising but learn good team participation and wonderful sportsmanship. It also helps to build the self-esteem that all my special needs students need. Jump ropes are great for the kids because it is a great calorie-burner but it also helps strengthens the upper and lower body. The Frisbee will not only Increased sprinting and endurance running, but help with targeting. Lastly, the Walkie talkies will be a great, safe format for the teacher to communicate during outside physical education to keep all students safe.
