My school is truly a gem! Our students have to apply to our school because of the unique learning opportunities that are available. We’re a very small school in which I’m able to know each and every student and their family. It’s what makes learning one that all stakeholders are invested in the well being of our school. I know I’m partial, but my school is truly the best school ever! My students become my kids.
My students are 11th graders who are ready to take on the world and find their path in life.
My Project
Research continues to show that when a student is provided with the appropriate nutrients, their level of engagement increases. Having quality foods (or snacks) within my classroom will allow my student-athletes to sustain a functioning level during their season. This is the type of protein drink that I see my athletes drinking while entering my classroom, so I would like to assist in their nutrition on days they tend to forget or had practice the morning before coming to my class and are famished.
I believe in providing the right tools for all of my students, whether it be nutritional and academic, for them to be successful in my classroom.
I would like to have the storage bin to house the drinks and snacks in my classroom, as a way to keep the items organized. Not only is having the needed protein drinks and bars for my student-athletes important but so is the textbook that will aid in their understanding of the Gettysburg Address for their AP Language and Composition (and it helps with their APUSH exam).
I have also asked for the net that will go on the front of my classroom door. We are in a trailer and sometimes our A/C does not work and we have to open our doors to generate a cross breeze. As a way to fend off the possible flying bugs from coming into my classroom that will cause a slight commotion, I would like to have a barrier to aid in this distraction.
