My students need deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, healthy snacks, hand sanitizer and sanitizing agents for the classroom. They also need tissues to prevent the spread of germs!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students that I service at W. H. M. Elementary in Youngstown, Ohio are magnificent! Our elementary services students in grades PK-8 and is a low income/high poverty school district. Most of these students are being raised in single-parent households and some live in undesirable conditions. These students have many obstacles in their everyday life, but they are so eager to learn and crave positive attention from caring adults. These students are smart, energetic, capable and loving. As a counselor, I want to help each student create the best person they can be through teaching them what social and emotional health is.
My Project
These materials will be utilized during a classroom guidance lesson with all second and third grade students. The lesson will cover healthy choices, such as healthy eating, hygiene, good sleep habits and physical activity. I will distribute the deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, healthy snacks, hand sanitizer, and kleenex during my lesson and help students understand why having these items is so important.
Many students may not have access to hygiene products and healthy snacks at home, so it would be wonderful if I could provide them.
I feel my students will benefit greatly from these products and so will their health and happiness. When we have healthy kids, we have happy kids!
