The students walk into the classroom each morning with a bright smile, eagerness to learn, and anticipation as to what the day holds for them. At our school, we strive to treat each other with respect, love, and compassion. Unfortunately, these students are in a high poverty, low-income environment, where all of our students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. I teach PreK in an underfunded, underprivileged rural setting.
We, as a school, supply as best as we can; however, it can only go so far with the number of students that we have throughout the whole school.
As a PreK class we have to buy our students snacks for the mandated snack time or ask for parent donations. That is why I'm asking you for your help in getting healthy snacks for our class.
My Project
My students come to school ready to learn but some do not have the financial resources to bring a healthy snack to school each day. Although my school provides a healthy meal at lunch and at a cost at recess, I would like to provide them with some healthy choices for snack time that are appealing to them.
By providing healthy snack choices, I am also promoting smart food choices and promoting healthy eating.
I am asking for goldfish, fruit snacks, cheez its, crackers, and more.
We will be discussing healthy choices and foods that are good for our bodies and brains.
