Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My third graders are excited about being in school and have expressed a huge interest in exercising and being healthy. We have access to a medium track area; a space they'd like to use daily.

My students' compassion for others has spearheaded their consideration of having a walking club for those in their classroom [to start].

My Project

My students will use the fitness trackers to establish a baseline heart rate. Together we'll devise a fitness plan that incorporates the school's track - using the fitness tracker to keep a record of steps counted and calories burned.

My students will learn how to monitor and track their heart rate, steps taken and calories burned.

They will learn how to use the tracker's data and food labels to create a suggested healthy kids menu plan for families.

Lastly, students will learn the benefits of a fitness tracker and how in safe in-class exercise and captured.
