My Students
My second graders are scientists, inventors, and engineers. They are natural problem-solvers, so I believe in engaging them with activities that ask them to be challenged.
My students have the power to make a difference in the world. I believe that they can and do change the world every day. Their excitement about life and learning inspires me. My favorite thing as a teacher is to see my students light up with enthusiasm when they are given opportunities to engage in creativity and hands-on learning.
My Project
Anyone who has worked with kids knows the power of a good snack! Snacks in school keep hungry kids, who can only think about when lunch is, focused and learning. These snacks will be used to help motivate kids to work hard and to educate them about nutrition.
We will look at the food labels and calculate grams of protein, sugar, serving sizes, and calories to figure out what makes the smartest choices for our snacking. This will help students to learn a valuable life-long skill, as well as helping them to get through the day. Snacks are also highly motivating. Breaking out even a small amount of food almost always keeps kids eager and excited.
