My Students

Not all students are created equally. This has never been more true than in today's diverse classroom. Not only are they interested in different topics, but they have different learning needs and styles. Some prefer to sit quietly and learn independently, while others are constantly on the move - actively learning about the world around them.

My fourth graders are inquisitive explorers of the world around them.

They are social learners who enjoy social settings where they can share ideas and encourage each other throughout the learning process.

My Project

Due to increasing enrollment in our district, our school has three portable trailers that house the learning environment for nearly 150 upper elementary students. Because these trailers are temporary, they do not have plumbing. Students must travel into the main building for many needs including lunch, special classes, library, water fountain, and toileting needs. By having this portable sink in one of our trailers, it will allow us to teach important hand-washing skills and save valuable instructional time because students will be able to wash their hands after classroom tasks, before eating, and after contact with peers showing signs of illness (coughing, sneezing, etc). Being able to meet the basic hygiene skill of washing hands and cleaning oneself is a critical need in today's society. This sink will keep my active students engaged in learning by allowing them to stay in the classroom while meeting this basic need.
