My students are awesome! They come from diverse backgrounds, but they come ready to learn and soak up new experiences. Although our school is in a rural community, we have a diverse population of students. Many of our students are fairly new to our country and are just learning to speak English.
My classroom is a place where kids can come together to learn and have fun regardless of their differences or needs.
Throughout the school year, we work hard to improve academically, socially, and emotionally, and we build relationships within the community.
My Project
My students work hard in school and out. After a long day of school, they want a quick healthy snack to get them through practice and activities after school. We are focusing on teaching our students about healthier snack options and not eating empty calories like chips or candy.
These healthy snacks that I am asking for will allow my students to get the energy they need to focus and learn in the classroom for the whole school day.
Many snacks take away from students' ability to concentrate on their learning.
Having these healthy snacks would allow me to provide the necessary brain food to my students that cannot afford to bring healthy snacks.
My school has started a healthy eating initiative that spans from the cafeteria menu to the snacks being enjoyed in the classrooms, to the snacks students bring from home for lunch. I want to help my students in their journey to recognize and start trying healthier snacks.
