My students have so little and I want to give them so much more. All of the students here come from homes below the poverty line, and I want them to have the chance to experience something that can influence their lives.
My students come from broken homes, homeless shelters, the projects, and worse.
We have a huge population of immigrant students as well and I want them to be exposed to as much as possible so that they don't fall behind in their future educational endeavors. They take public transportation, buses, and trains, to and from one of the most dangerous corners in this city. Some of them share a one bedroom apartment with mom, dad, grandma, and three siblings. Their home lives are crowded and so are their classrooms. Our public school bends over backwards to help our students as much as possible, but budget cuts have severely decimated funding and I just can't afford to give them everything they need.
My Project
Most of my students start school at 8:15am and end school at 6pm. These healthy drinks will help my students stay focused throughout the long day. The food and drinks they receive at school often times is the only food many of them receive the entire day.
My desire to meet their basic needs first will help me in meeting their academic needs.
The healthy drinks and snacks provided will give them an extra reason to come to school and the refrigerator will be used to keep the drinks cool throughout the day. This endeavor will only be possible with donations from sponsors like you.
