My Students
Every week I welcome 436 kindergarten through fourth grade students into my Health classroom. My students are full of energy with a passion for movement. My unique classroom gives my students the opportunity to increase their knowledge in the area of health related topics as well as to provide them with a space to get active!
Physical activity is vital for a child's development and gives them the foundation they need for a healthy and active life.
By incorporating movement into our time together, the students are learning about the importance of physical activity and the health benefits that come from having an active lifestyle.
My Project
In my room, we do not use desks and chairs. I have been using old tumbling mats that I borrowed from the PE teacher. I would like to return these mats and give the room new life with new mats! These new mats will help to ensure safe movement within the room and also help the children to stay within their own personal space.
Children need to be physically active everyday to promote healthy growth and development.
Many children are living sedentary lifestyles and do not get enough movement in their day. Our students have PE once a week for 60 minutes. By incorporating movement into Health class I am helping to increase their daily quota.
I have created an environment where the kids learn while getting active. In our class we learn about the human body while running, calming techniques while doing yoga and conscious breathing and healthy habits while dancing. Please consider helping us stay safe and active!
