I have 8 students who are picky and finicky eaters. They all have their own issues with texture, taste, and temperature. On many days there is nothing on the menu that they will eat and the only nutrition they get for the day are the snacks that I supply in the classroom.
My students are hungry to learn but some days they are just hungry.
My students can not focus or learn when their tummies hurt. I have been introducing new foods and new ways to prepare their favorite foods, through our daily snacks.
My Project
This project will supply some much needed snacks for my students, who frequently come to school hungry and seem to stay hungry all day. It will supply Clorox wipes to keep our classroom clean and Chapstick to ease the pain of chapped lips, when the kids won't stop licking them.
My students are extremely stubborn, finicky eaters.
They aren't interested in trying new things, so there are some days when we don't have anything to give them, even when they ate nothing at breakfast or lunch. Having the snacks on hand will move the focus to learning and possibly prevent shut down and negative behaviors. Our afternoon snack will send the kids home with food in their stomachs for their bus ride home.
