Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from low-income households in Dallas, Texas. We are part of the Accelerated Learning Program through DISD we also focus on social-emotional learning on our campus and it’s a huge benefit for my students. A lot of my students have already had such traumatic backgrounds at such a young age some things we could never fathom. I’m here to support them and teach them and let them love and learn. My students are awesome, they are kind, thoughtful and caring. They are so interested in life and want to know everything. They are so curious and I’m constantly teaching them new things.
My Project
This year is totally different than my previous years teaching. I am going to be teaching a new grade under new circumstances... teaching in a pandemic.
Usually, I would request classroom manipulatives or supplies like pencils, highlighters, and flashcards.... but this year it's totally different it's all about safety and hygiene.
The items I'm asking for are to keep my students and their families safe and healthy throughout the school year, from teaching online to in-person these are necessary items that we will be utilizing all year. Hand soap, sanitizer, paper towels, computer ink for the classroom printer (so I don't have to use the public one), laminating sheets to easily wipe down to keep my students clean and even a classroom forehead thermometer .
This year is so different and I can only hope that these essentials help us in our everyday learning and to keep us safe and healthy.
