I teach a diverse group of English Language Learners. Many of my students come from non-English speaking homes. My students this year speak more than 7 different languages. They are eager to learn and become proficient in English.
In class, we practice communicating in English using a variety of strategies.
We focus on building conversational and academic skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
My students look forward to coming to school every day. They take pride in their learning and they are motivated to try their very best.
My Project
I am requesting a humidifier, distilled water to run the humidifier, an end table to store it on, tissues and baby wipes so that my students and I can stay healthy and happy this winter! As we all know, colder temperatures force us to stay indoors for long periods of time. When the weather is particularly cold (or wet) the students need to stay indoors during recess. Spending extended periods of time indoors creates the perfect environment for sharing germs. Did you know that there was a recent study done that proved humidifiers in classrooms reduce the risk of catching the flu?
If students (and teachers alike) can avoid getting sick, they won't miss out on valuable time in the classroom!
