My students are unique, gifted in their own ways, and in need of a champion. I teach around three hundred 7th grade students a year. My students are a mixture of socioeconomic levels but with these different levels, come different struggles.
I strive to teach my students, using methods that are both creative and engaging so my students can find their own way to their success.
When learning is engaging to the whole child, students thrive, not just in my classroom, but in life.
My students don't always have the support at home that is needed to be successful in today's competitive learning environments. Teaching them their own power and problem solving skills is the best way for my students to succeed.
My Project
I am asking for supplies to create a unit about health epidemics around the world. I would like to create an entire epidemiology unit for my students to discover more about pathogens and how they spread. We will use the map to plot out where each of these epidemics have taken place. I have asked for pins and string to link the epidemic information to the places on the map. I asked for a photo cube and black light tape to create a pathogen detector box. This way the students can actively explore the germs around them everyday. I asked for headphones and zip loc bogs to store them. I plan to add videos to my unit to make it more interactive, headphones allow my students to enjoy the videos at their own pace without being distracted by others.
In light of the recent health concerns around the world, my students are curious about what other major health epidemics have happened throughout history and around the world.
I am also asking for more storage for my classroom to hold all of our new supplies. Storage in a classroom can be an issue. However with our new shelves our classroom, I plan to create more work stations that also double as storage for our new supplies. I have asked for more dry erase markers for my students to use while tracking their data on the new whiteboard I asked for as well. I also asked for whiteboard tape to create a massive graph that my students can use to track down patient zero during our activity. Lastly, I asked for chair and table socks to protect my floor while we move the tables and chairs around the room to make the more accessible for the labs we will do.
