Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an awesome and eager group of kindergarten students in an inner-city school where 100% of students receive free school lunch. Most of my students come from a family background where they lack academic and financial support to enrich their academic studies. The majority of these students come from families where parents are too busy working and lack the language or education to help them with their schoolwork. Therefore, the role of the teacher is extremely vital to their learning.
Despite these setbacks, my students are motivated learners who rely heavily on teachers and school support to help them become successful in life.
Our school motto is to be respectful, responsible, and scholarly. In order to help them achieve these goals, I must provide them with the best classroom environment, full of the proper supplies and guidance.
My Project
Flu season is back! Not long after the winter break, my students came back to school with fresh sniffles, coughs, and minor scrapes. Therefore, I am requesting for the disinfectant wipes, band-aids, baby wipes, and sanitizers because these supplies will help keep them from getting further sick! The clorox and baby wipes will be used to sanitize the classroom on a daily basis. Tissues are always needed for the sniffles that seem to constantly spread. My kindergarten students tend to have minor scrapes throughout the day and the band-aids will be very useful instead of sending them to the office since we don't have a full time nurse.
These health and wellness items requested will help minimize classroom disruptions and keep my students healthy and ready to learn!
