Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in North Philadelphia navigate obstacles every day to survive and thrive. Their parents and guardians are strong and resilient because they have to be and during this holiday season, they deserve recognition for their hard work as well.
This project will support my students by providing enrichment and entertainment to their families who have been stuck inside for months with little or no access to exercise and wellness.
Together, we can create opportunities for mental, physical, academic, and emotional growth all from the comfort of their own homes! Let's help parents to make their kids healthy and happy!
My Project
My students have been quarantined indoors for months. They lack resources for exercise and wellness at home and as a result, are becoming unfit and unhealthy and therefore unable to work to their potential. We have begun a unit on Fitness and Nutrition. I have given them all new yoga mats to work on mindfulness and with new basketballs they will be able to increase their cardiovascular fitness and have fun with their family members while at home. We cannot change these difficult circumstances, but we can make it more fun. A little bit will go a long way!
