Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I elementary school in North Carolina. Most of them are bilingual, speaking English only at school. Many parents/families work two or three jobs to provide the basic necessities at home. They want the best education for their children and to help them as much as they can.
My students are hard-working, curious kids.
They enjoy all hands-on activities and have a variety of interests. Our class works well together and enjoys helping each other learn.
My Project
I am requesting an assortment of snacks as well as tissues, napkins, paper plates, and bags. Being that many of my students come from low-income households, they are not able to bring in a snack from home each day for snack time. They work hard all day and it breaks my heart that they are hungry and can't afford snacks. They are too young to have to worry about hunger. These snacks will provide them with the fuel they need to remain focused on their academic success. The napkins, plates, and bags will help to keep our classroom neat during snack time. The tissues will be used during cold and flu season so we can remain healthy and germ-free.
