Headsprout: The Path to Successful Reading in Pre-K
My students need a subscription to the HeadSprout and Raz-Kids on-line reading programs as well as motivational plush animal prizes for our new Junior Kindergarten reading buddy program.
We are THRILLED to have Junior Kindergarten (Pre-K) at our school this coming year. To help them have a fun and positive start we plan to implement the Headsprout adaptive online reading program along with Reading Buddies with their elementary peers.
"To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out a spark." - Victor Hugo.
A love of language, reading, and books starts early, so encouraging this by having interactive stories for their individual reading as well as having older students read to our Pre-K students, one-on-one, will make a world of difference.
My Project
Headsprout is a research-proven kids' reading program that takes students on a digital journey to become better readers. With a cast of captivating characters to help them along the way, students complete interactive online episodes that continually teach the critical foundational reading skills and comprehension strategies students need to excel in the classroom and beyond. Our Pre-K students will also spend time with upper grade readers using the Raz-Kids subscription and will even receive their own plush reading buddy for individual practice and motivation.
In addition to motivating a love of reading, children who partake in early literacy activities have more confidence than children whose Pre-K reading is not supported.
Increased confidence will enable these young learners to socialize better with adults and other children.
By donating to this project, you are helping to provide our Pre-K students with an incredible learning experience both on their own and with student mentors. One of the most amazing things we can do for a child is read to them every day.
