Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is diverse in population with approximately 40% Hispanic, 30% white, and 30% African American students.
Over 50% of students receive free or reduced lunch.
I expect my students to participate and take ownership of their learning. Our goal is to show significant growth as learners by the end of our excursion together. By the year's end, student achievement is high due academic rigor and engagement. They exit for middle school bursting with confidence and enthusiasm, yet many return for a visit!
My Project
This year I am trying out Google Classrooms for reading, writing, and social studies using Chrome Books. About half of my students in the classes I teach brought headphones as requested on our school supply list. Consequently, when listening to a lesson requiring sound the room buzzes with distracting noise!
With headphones, students will be able to listen to and focus on assigned content recordings and activities, read and hear on-line textbook articles, and view selected educational videos.
Additionally, my special populations will be able to use the headset microphones for the Speech-to-Text feature when writing, revising,and editing reader responses and writing assignments. Cancelling the volume of multiple voices will permit better concentration and achievement!
