Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 3rd through 5th grade special needs children that would greatly benefit from generous donors. The majority of my students have emotional and behavioral disabilities. I love that my students are eager to learn and always want to do their best. At times they may become frustrated and disengaged because of anxiety, which leads to them struggling with their academics. Despite their disabilities, my students are still expected to take state exams to the best of their abilities. Thank you for your time.
My Project
The use of headsets is a daily activity in my classroom, especially now with virtual learning. Using the headsets, students come together virtually for guided practice and to understand modeled strategies. The headsets allow them to hear exactly what they need to do, as well as provide an easy source for them to listen and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the headsets they currently have never seem to last, some seem to disappear, and others slowly become worn out from frequent use. When something goes awry, students know that they must let the teachers know through the headsets to get assistance. Even though they are great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction from either myself or other students. By having headsets available, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on the tasks at hand.
