I am the Instructional Computer Lab Manager at Gable Middle School. This year we have two computer labs. One is used for curriculum based work and the other is used for research, projects, typing papers, etc.. Many of the programs we use have sound. The band, chorus, and orchestra students all use a Music Ace program for learning notes, melodies, and rhythms. All of the math curriculum I use in the lab is interactive and has sound. All the teachers bring their classes to the labs for instructional work. We even have a program that teaches them how to type and that has sound also. We desperately need new headsets for the labs. The ones we currently have are old and the cords are fraying. I do not have enough good sets for both labs at this time. Every student in my school, grades 6-8, will use both these labs during the year. On any given day 120 students can come through the lab. All of our students would benefit greatly from new headsets.
