Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are located in a large inner-city neighborhood. Most of our students speak English as their second language. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our parents want to help their children at home, but many do not speak English and money is tight. The language barrier causes a big struggle for our students on their way to be successful in school. In our classroom, we have access to individual laptops. The students use the laptops for learning programs and games to reinforce reading and math skills. However, the students can't hear with 28 laptops having the sound on at the same time.
Individual headphones are a must for the students to hear while using their laptops without disrupting those around them.
We also need a storage bin to keep the headphones in a safe place until ready to use. The students will be able to do the iReady program, practice math skills, and work on vocabulary. Concentration is imperative for my students to be successful!
My Project
Technology is used in every classroom in our school. We use our laptops daily to support reading, math, and our iReady program. Our class has laptops to use but we do not have headphones. Being able to hear on our laptops is a must!
With individual quality headphones, my students will be able to focus on learning from the specialized computer programs that are implemented into our curriculum.
Students love these programs and excel in learning when they can hear what is being taught. In addition to the headphones, we need a place to keep the headphones safe and ready to use.
