I teach 3rd grade at our Elementary School. I have sixteen students in my classroom. They are kind and respectful to each other and to the adults they interact with.
They love to learn!
They work hard on everything they do. They come to school ready to be a successful student. They each bring something to the table in partner work, collaboration, and discussions. They love the technology piece of their learning. Even just typing their paper on the computer motivates them to get their writing done so they can go type it!
My class would benefit from anything that that would enhance their learning!
My Project
Headphones with mic is a tool that can and has enhance my students learning especially in the engagement aspect. Two ways my students have used the few headphones with mic in my classrooms were during independent reading, where they read out loud their books into the computer and record their readings and during their district literably testing three times a year.
First, reading their books to the computer and having it recorded has spiked their engagement during independent reading time.
They love being able to hear themselves read when they play back the recordings. This has also decreased behavior management during independent reading rotation time.
Another way the class has used these headphones with mics is during their literably reading test, which is done three times a year. The literably test records their readings and with only a few headphones with mic the testing window usually takes one to two weeks to complete all students testing and retesting. So with everyone having their own headphone with mics, they can all take their test at one time which will allow for less time testing and more time for teaching and learning.
I will continue to use these headphones for independent reading time, literably testing and other programs that will require using a headphone with a mic.
