This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a STEAM Marine Science Magnet and my students are from the neighborhood but also from 10's of miles away. The school os located just a few blocks from the beach and aquarium. Students learn about the ocean and it's inhabitants from first hand experiences from the various walking field trips we take. My students are curious and imaginative. They are also thoughtful and creative. They have been researching and engineering their own projects. One of my personal goals is to teach students about their direct impact on the oceans and Earth as a whole.

My Project

My classroom has computers however no headphones! As a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) school we believe in integrating technology into everything we are learning. The headphones would allow students to work independently on reading programs, math programs as well as researching Science and Social Sciences.

The students are familiar with researching and it would be wonderful if one student could be undisturbed listening to a video about jellyfish and another about sharks without distractions and interruptions that 24 computers can cause.

Ding! Beep! Please help my students retain focus and use their computers to their full potential.
