This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 5th and 6th grade math this 2018-2019 school year. My students live in an area of Kansas City that is a high crime area and most 95% students come from low income families. 100% off students receive free breakfast, lunch, and before/after school care.
This is the first year our school has adapted to a middle school model for 5th and 6th grade.
This helps prepare our students to be successful for middle school. The middle schools in our district utilized technology a lot. We want to start implementing technology usage early.
My Project
Our district has adopted a new testing program that is interactive and involves videos and individualized lessons and testing. Based off of the test, students are then given lessons on the level they tested on. This helps students to be able to learn on their level during small groups/rotations.
We've also adapted a new math curriculum that has in assignments, games, testing, math tools, and videos to help students be successful.
Both of these programs require students to have headphones to complete the assignments and testing without any interruptions.
In order for my students to be successful, and be able to perform at a high standard, they are in need of high quality headphones.
