Help me give my students headphones with a microphone. We have started online learning and many students don't have headphones to plug into their computer. They need headphones to focus and listen in class without background noise!
We have recently expanded to become a K-12 school, the only public K-12 in Oakland, CA. This expansion has allowed us to be able to put our students on a college and career track early in their education. We embrace the mindset that our students can achieve anything they wish, despite the challenges of coming from a low-income/high poverty background.
Our sixth grade is comprised of 120 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Madison provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment to all of our students.
We have begun online learning for the 2020 school year and the students are learning and overcoming so much. 6th grade students are being their own IT support and trouble-shooting tech issues left and right. They are doing their best to be in class and learning as much as they can but naturally, a lot of background noise comes in. My students may be logging into class on the dining room table, in their bedroom with younger siblings, or even outside in their backyard.
There is a lot of noise in the outside world that can come into our online classes and make it difficult for students to learn.
These headphones would allow students to log in from wherever they are and be able to hear Zoom class. The headphones would also have a microphone so students can participate and ask questions in the class. This will make our online classroom feel a little more normal for students who are already dealing with so much going on around them.
