Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach computers at a K-5 school in New York. Students in grades 1-5 come to learn computers in our school lab. Students learn how to type using programs such as Mavis Beacon, they learn to use the Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) and they learn to use the Internet. Students use the Internet to access the program Uptowneducation.com (purchased by my school) allowing them to practice for the NY State Exams in Math and ELA.

Most of the programs that students use have audio and when all the computers are being used the noise is distracting to the students. I have purchased cheap headphones from the Dollar Store but after a few days they stop working.

I am requesting sturdier headphones for my students to use. Having these headphones will ensure that my students are focusing on learning the skills at hand.

Your help will ensure that my students focus when they are using the computer. The headphones will cut down on any distractions especially during test preparation time, where it is essential that my students prepare for the NY State Exams.
