Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students make us smile every minute of the day - whether it is because they just said their first successful sentence in English or have shared their feelings in our daily social-emotional circle. We work with a diverse group of very special children. Each one is unique in his/her own way. Our classroom is combined 6th-8th grade students who travel through a continuous war zone to come to school every day eager to learn. They are a diverse population, who face many challenges such as special needs, social-emotional trauma, along with being the first in their family to have a formal education; yet they are survivors who refuse to let these obstacles get in their way.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting are headphones that will help to engage my students in learning.
I want to create a computer station in my room with technology that works well.
Students will rotate throughout the day and week in order to practice skills, enrich their current skills, and research topics that they are truly interested in.
Students will learn how to research a specific subject and write an essay based on their findings.
My students have very low reading levels and with their Chromebooks they have access to stories at higher reading levels to be read to them. These headphones will help them listen to those stories.
With so many unique learning personalities, this technology will make a big difference in accommodating all of their needs, comfort and confidence in the classroom!
