My Students

I teach a wonderful group of first graders. Our school is in a vibrant and diverse neighborhood. Each year students are eager to become excellent readers. When the book they want to read is too hard, we always say it isn't a "just right" book for them YET. They know if they read, read, read, soon that book will be easy for them.

We are fortunate to have iPads as learning tools.

My students are eager to learn so many things. Our iPads are loaded with apps at the students' levels so they can learn at just the right pace for them, and increase their knowledge of technology. We learn an incredible amount in first grade.

My Project

My students use iPads for individualized learning. They read books online at their own level. They do word work at their own level using an app. They are able to hear literature read to them. They also do math at their level where the directions can be read to them. To do all of this, students need headphones so their work does not interfere with their classmate's work.

Our current headphones have been used for several years and they are wearing out.

They also do not have a volume control. I would like to be able to provide each student with Schoolmate headphones with volume control. This would help our learning on the iPads to be delivered effectively and safely for little ears.
