Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This year, we will be back to learning in our classroom, and I am so grateful for this! I am trying to get some snacks to help fill my students' bellies so that they can focus on learning. I believe my students are capable of reaching the top. Currently, we are an F school, but we are already showing great strides this year. All of my students come from low-income homes, but I want them to understand how blessed they are.

I teach an intellectually gifted class in a rural Mississippi town with 99% of the students living in poverty.

This leaves us few resources for supplies. Families struggle to provide ordinary supplies to our schools. Providing supplies for my students allows my students to be less worried about bringing and providing supplies, especially this year in such uncertainty. This year will be new and exciting!

My Project

Having headphones will help the students cut out the noise in the classroom and focus on what they are trying to learn. When all the students are trying to work on their computers doing research and watching educational videos, it becomes a noisy classroom.

Having headphones would ensure that my students are able to focus specifically on what they are learning.

Once the noise is cut out, the students can watch their videos without the background noise. I teach gifted students and we are constantly watching videos learning about people who have made a difference in the world or community. I pray that it inspires them to make a difference in our town.
