Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary school serves a diverse group of students that are hungry for knowledge and new experiences. When you walk the hallways of our school, you will see smiling faces, a tapestry of culture, hard work, and lots of hugs! We are a Title I school, and while many of our students come from lower-income families, I do not want that to be all that people see or remember about our students. Our students are bright and inquisitive, handling adversity with astounding grace. I want everyone to recognize how our students rise to any and every occasion with grit and determination that will soon trail blaze new paths to the future.
Our world faces many issues that do not yet have solutions, but you and I have the opportunity to foster the creativity of this young generation to help find them!

My Project
In the Innovation Lab, independent work time can be challenging with large class sizes. There is always noise, whether it is the loud bustling of group collaboration, the low humming of 1 on 1 or small group instruction, the sharpening of pencils, etc. That noise can certainly become a distraction or source of frustration-- especially to some of my students who are neurodivergent/special needs.
With your help, my students can cancel out most of the background noise and better focus on their independent-work and research.
I look forward to using this simple tool to improve independent work practices with my kids and to make my class more equitable for my students who need these tools.
