Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher in an inner-city, Title I school. I have 29 students from various ethnic backgrounds. A large majority of my students come from non-English speaking families. My class also includes special education students who need differentiated instruction and visuals. My students love using classroom resources to help them with their classwork. Unfortunately, with budget cuts and no funding, we lack sufficient resources in the classroom.
My school does not have available funding to purchase materials that are needed to meet the needs of my special education students and English language learners especially during these times.
My students are very special because they try their best even though they are often faced with many obstacles that other children do not have. They love school and are happy to learn.
My Project
All third grade students love reading about non-fiction information and regardless of their ethnic background or disability, they especially relate to science topics such as planets, animals, insects, and plants.
There are great videos out there and games that are educational, however, students need headphones to be able to hear them quietly and keep focused without disturbing the rest of the students.
They will also build their comprehension and vocabulary while listening to these videos and assignments. They will be able to see real pictures and watch student appropriate videos related to these topics.
As our world becomes more technology dependent, it becomes even more necessary for students to use technology in order to become more successful. By integrating technology into education, students become more engaged in their learning. Students really need these headphones to be able to do their work and focus.
