My Students
I teach first grade at a wonderful school that has been a California Distinguished School several times in its history of being open. My school is not Title I, but each year we have an increasing amount of students who are considered low socio-economic. Our teachers and students make it a wonderful place to be on a daily basis.
I am a teacher who believes in constantly evolving for myself and my students.
I collaborate on a daily basis with teachers from around the world to improve my teaching and classroom environment. I try to make my classroom a positive place to come to on a daily basis that is warm and inviting. My classroom is not a traditional classroom. My class is set up with flexible seating and I offer many options of seats that keep my students actively engaged. I believe my students will thrive the most in this kind of environment.
My Project
My students need headphones to plug into laptops that they use on a daily basis in the classroom. Our district requires my students to work on a computer program that has been adopted to use district wide to increase their reading abilities. In order for my kids to do this, they need to be able to hear the program. We are using headphones so I can have multiple students on computers at the same time. Through the use of the headphones, they are able to better concentrate on their individual program instead of being distracted by the computers talking near them.
