I am a first year teacher at a rural elementary school. My students are eager to learn and enjoy math the most! They are a wonderful group and I am excited for my first year teaching with them! In first grade, my students will be learning exciting things such as how to read and write well written sentences! Learning to read and establishing a love for books is a huge goal for my firsties!

Teaching first grade will allow me to instill a love of reading and math in my students at such an early age. The impact of a great teacher is crucial for early learners in order for them to love school.
My Project
Because I teach in a rural community, not all students come to first grade prepared with a pair of headphones. Unfortunately, my classroom has gone through all of our extras! We use headphones for many things, but we use them daily in our listening center. We use them when integrating technology into our math centers. We also use headphones during RTI when using technology. This project would benefit my classroom as well as the other first grade classrooms in my building by providing us with extra headphones for the kids who truly need them. Funding this project would mean allowing students to use the technology without the embarrassment of having to borrow headphones. It helps when you can hear!
